Helen Dewitt

Helen DeWitt (1957 - ?) is as complicated in real life as her character in her debut The Last Samurai. Although she was born in Maryland, DeWitt was raised in South America by her diplomat parents. Helen DeWitt, who received her education in London, has since moved to Berlin. Over the course of her literary triumph, she has taken a wide variety of strange jobs including one at coffee chain Dunkin Donuts.
